Gastro-intestinal pathology • I am a nationally & internationally recognised expert in the field of gastro-intestinal pathology • My particular interests are in the diagnosis & prognosis of gastro-intestinal tumours, inflammatory bowel disease & Barrett's oesophagus • I have undertaken 150 medico-legal cases for plaintiffs & defendants, & have attended court • Erroneous & delayed pathological diagnoses make up a considerable proportion of cases

I was a Consultant General Surgeon from 1972-1998 at the Royal London Hospital with a general interest in abdominal surgery & gastroenterology. My special interest has been oesophageal disease on which I have written a book & over 10 chapters in specialised textbooks. I have been Chairman of a Medical Research Council Committee & run Medical Research Council cancer trials.
