We build the first J S Publications web site in 1995. This, inevitably, was a pretty basic affair! Since then, we have undertaken a number of web site development projects that have progressively relied upon ever more data-driven dynamic content.
Static web sites are those with web pages that are written by the web site creator and presented, unchanged, to any one who visits the web site. Dynamic web sites are those with pages that are created ‘on-the-fly’ based on content derived from databases and personalised by reference to what the user has looked at already. Dynamic web sites often provide the web browsers with a ‘richer’ experience.
However, dynamic content is driven by the web server – and web servers are not always available. A number of our commissions have been web sites on CD-ROM. In these cases, there is no server to create the dynamic content. We have specialised in building static content with a dynamic look and feel by combining our web design skills with our software development capability.
