Cardiac & thoracic surgery

I specialise in failure to provide (breathalyser) cases in relation to which I have written over 200 reports and appeared in court many times. My other main interest is in asthma related to damp housing.

Dr Fonseka has a specialist interest in pleural disease and has sat on the British Thoracic Society national guideline committees for both mesothelioma and pleural disease. Clinical interests: • Pleural infection • Pleural effusions • Mesothelioma • Diffuse pleural thickening • Pneumothorax • Lung cancer. Dr de Fonseka is heavily involved with pleural intervention such as local anaesthetic thoracoscopy, indwelling pleural catheters, intercostal chest drains and diagnostic/therapeutic pleural aspirations.

Mr Joshi's clinical focus is minimally invasive surgery, as well as general thoracic surgical oncology. He also treats patients who require pleural surgery, thymic surgery, diaphragm palsy and hernia, chest wall tumour resection and reconstruction, lung volume reduction, airway and tracheal procedures, as well as emergency thoracic surgery, including chest wall trauma. Mr Joshi also has experience in upper gastrointestinal surgery, mesothelioma and extra-corporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
