I am the only USA fellowship-trained consultant orthopaedic knee surgeon in the region. I specialise in sports knee, traumatic and complex conditions: ACL (primary/revision), multi-ligament, cartilage/meniscal injury, patellofemoral conditions, knee replacement. Academic record includes MD, PhD, >50 publications, a book chapter and >30 presentations. I provide medico-legal opinion on causation, prognosis, treatment and rehabilitation.

Professor Patel has a specialist interest in hip replacement, knee replacement, unicompartmental knee replacement, knee arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, revision hip and knee surgery, and forefoot surgery. He also has special interest in the management of sports injuries, including arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, management of young adult hip problems, minimally invasive surgery and complex hip and knee arthroplasty.

In addition to dealing with elective orthopaedic procedures of the lower limbs, Mr Lang provides on-call emergency services for the Major Trauma Centre in Manchester, also working closely with the plastic and reconstructive surgeons in joint management of serious trauma. His special interests lie in musculoskeletal trauma, sporting injuries to the lower limb, arthroscopic surgery of the knee, knee ligament reconstruction and primary knee and hip replacement.
